My father was obese and had an eating disorder since college. Of course, since he was a fat AND a man that was a double whammy so he couldn’t possibly have an eating disorder. Every doctor he saw told him to go on some ridiculously…
My father made it into his 80’s but spent every single day obsessing about his weight and when he died it was after a lifetime of abusing body and soul by gaining and losing and gaining the weight over and over. He also managed to pass on the obsession with weight and food and body image to his children. I was taken to my first OA meeting when I was 16 years old and I still haven’t made peace with food, sugar, fat and my body. I’m about to be 48.
